i took my mum and aunt winnie to shanghai studio, a bomb-shelter-turned-underground-gay-bar in the french concession. it's quite amazing how gay life in shanghai has evolved over the past 5 years. now there are gay venues next to the former mansions of both dr. sun yat-sen and soong ching-ling.
